Nailed it!
The answer is John Adams.
Who was the first president to live in the White House?
Why the answer is John Adams
George Washington chose the site and approved the design, but he died in 1799 before the house was finished. John Adams moved in on November 1, 1800, while the plaster was still drying.
Abigail Adams joined him weeks later and found the house cold and unfinished. She famously hung the family’s laundry to dry in the East Room.
On his second night there, Adams wrote a prayer in a letter to Abigail: “I pray Heaven to bestow the best of Blessings on this House and all that shall hereafter inhabit it.” Franklin Roosevelt later had those words carved into the mantel of the State Dining Room.
