The answer is KDKA.
On November 2, 1920, Westinghouse’s station KDKA in Pittsburgh broadcast the results of the presidential election between Warren Harding and James Cox. It is widely recognized as the first scheduled commercial radio broadcast in the United States.
Just two months later, on January 2, 1921, KDKA broadcast a Sunday evening service from Pittsburgh’s Calvary Episcopal Church, one of the first church services ever aired on radio.
Within a few years, hundreds of stations were on the air, and the radio became the center of the family living room.
