The answer is Ronald Reagan.

Ronald Reagan started as a radio sports announcer in Iowa, then signed with Warner Bros. in 1937. He appeared in more than fifty films, including Knute Rockne, All American, in which he played George “the Gipper” Gipp, and Kings Row.

He served as president of the Screen Actors Guild, hosted television’s General Electric Theater, and was elected governor of California in 1966. In 1980, at 69, he became the oldest person elected president up to that time.

In 1987, at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, he challenged the Soviet leader: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” The Berlin Wall fell two years later.
